Schoelzel, Dennis D. (15 MAR 1945 - 3 NOV 2011)

 

Dennis Dale Schoelzel, 66, passed away Nov. 3, 2011, under Hospice Care in Zepherhills, Florida.

Dennis was born March 15, 1945, to Rudolph and Olivia (Guetenberger) Schoelzel. He grew up on a farm and attended Colby schools.

He enlisted in the U.S. Marines in October 1963. He served our country in Vietnam. He earned a National Defense Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal with Star and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. He received an honorable discharge in January 1967.

Dennis and Edith Mierke were married Oct. 22, 1966, at United Church of Christ in Colby. They resided in the area until moving to Zepherhills, Fla., in 1985.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Edith; and their four sons, Timothy (wife Lynette), Tory, Travis and Tierell; and 10 grandchildren (including three sets of twins). He is further survived by his brothers, Jerry (Joan), Ronnie, Darnell (Jancis), Glen (Romona), Jim (Bonnie); sisters, Darlene Wachendonk, Emerita Phillips, Sandy (Jim) Hudak, Connie (Duane) Stine and Korliss Uhlig; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Rudy, Doris, DuWayne, Lyle, Beatrice Ione, Audris, Arlyn and Albert.

There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Marshfield. Lunch and fellowship will follow at the church.

Following the service burial will be at Colby Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit and share memories at 1 p.m. at the Colby VFW Club.
