The Shepherd has called home another member of His flock. Thomas Lee Luchterhand, 63, of Eleva, left this world for everlasting life on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.

Tom was born in Marshfield on Nov. 1, 1948, to Robert and Lenore (Widmann) Luchterhand. Tom played football for the Loyal Greyhounds and graduated with the class of 1966. He went on to attend University of Wisconsin-River Falls and the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

In 1969, Tom married Joyce Marie Weigel in Marshfield, WI. He was then drafted into the U.S. Air Force and served for four years and was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska.

He continued to live in Alaska with his family after his discharge, where he was a contractor, building both commercial and residential properties.

In 1982 Tom and his wife moved back to Wisconsin where he continued to enjoy building, gardening, and playing with his grandchildren. Up until he passed away, he was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church where he served on the Board of Elders, taught Sunday School, and enjoyed Bible study.

Tom is survived by his father, Robert; wife, Joyce; two daughters, Lisa Marie Phillips of Beaver Meadows, Pa., and Lori Joy (Mike) Schwichtenberg of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Courtney, Morgan, Abigail, Elizabeth and Joshua; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Owen; one sister, Melody (Kim) Williamson; one brother, Ken (Joanna) Luchterhand; two brothers-in-law, Charlie Weigel and John (Ann) Weigel; two nieces, five nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews.

Waiting for him in Heaven are his mother, Lenore; niece Julia Fleisner; and one brother-in-law, Glen Fleisner.

Memorial services will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 3031 Epiphany Lane in Eau Claire, with Pastor Russell Kampfer officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
