Watson, Patricia (Sept 1957)

Relatives and friends congregated Saturday morning in St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield for the marriage of Miss Patricia M. Watson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Watson Sr., Marshfield and Clarence F. Rogstad, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rogstad.

Officiant at the 9 o’clock ceremony was the Rt. Rev. Msgr. A. N. Schuh.

Escorted to the altar by her father, who gave her in marriage, the bride entered the church in a white floor-length gown of Chantilly lace and nylon tulle. The fitted bodice embellished with sequins was styled with long tapering sleeves and a queen’s collar. Ruffles adorned the bouffant skirt. Sequins and pearl trim was repeated on the headpiece that secured her finger-tip veil. Her bouquet was composed of red and white roses centered with an orchid. She also carried a white rosary and prayerbook.

Serving as bridal aides were Miss Anita Rogstad, a sister of the groom, as maid of honor, Miss Jane Roggenbauer, Marshfield, and Miss Sandra Berwager, Ashland, a cousin of the bride as bridesmaids, and Leatha Watson, a sister of the bride as flower girl.

The maid of honor’s strapless frock in a mint green shade was floor-length and was complimented with a jacket detailed with tiered lace in the back. Net ruffles cascaded down its front. Mint green and white gardenias were used in her bouquet.

Similarly garbed in coral-colored frocks were the bridesmaids. Their bouquets matched the color of their dresses.

Short puffed sleeves and a full hoped skirt detailed the floor length gown of crystalette donned by the flower girl.

A 1-e George Watson Jr., came from Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Ill., to serve his new brother-in-law as best man. Others attending the groom were Lynn Lawrenz, Loyal, and Robert Scherr, Marshfield, a cousin, as groomsmen, and Mickey Wehymiller, Loyal, a nephew of the groom, as ring bearer. Seating the guests in church were Ronald Meyer, and Cpl. Frank Scherr, a cousin of the bride from Camp Pendleton, Calif.

For the festivities the bride’s mother selected navy lace ensemble and whit accessories. Her corsage contained pink and white roses. The groom’s mother was present in a beige lace outfit accented with black accessories and a corsage of red and white roses.

The home of the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Julia Scherr, Marshfield, was the setting for the breakfast that followed the church ceremony. Places for 100 were set for dinner in the Armory, which was also the scene of the afternoon reception, where 300 relatives and friends were greeted by the newly weds. A dance at the Colby Pavillion concluded the days festivities.

The bride, a graduate of Marshfield High School, is employed Rochlis Plywood Corp. Her husband, who finished high school education in Loyal the same year, is associated with his brother, Vernon Rogstad in the contracting business in Loyal. After a tour of the western states, the couple will take up residence in Loyal.
