Bredesen, Leo Arndt (11 January 1894 - 23 February 1964)

 

Leo Bredesen, 70, life-long resident of Greenwood, died February 23, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, where he was taken following a stroke. He had been admitted one hour earlier.

 

Leo Arndt Bredesen, son of Anton and Selma (Anderson) Bredesen was born January 11, 1894, in Greenwood. He was married to Mabel Kees February 10, 1915, here.  He received his education in the Greenwood schools and was a well driller for 43 years and also farmed in the east city limits for the last 37 years.

 

Surviving are his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Merrill (Eileen) Dunn, Mrs. Marian Dunn and Mrs. Fern (Verna) Harms, all of Greenwood, Mrs. Edward (Bonnie) Bundick of Anchorage, Alaska, and Mrs. Bernard (June) Ferguson of Grand View, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Dagny Peterson and Mrs. Emma Timerson of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Hilda Anderson of Eau Claire; and two brothers  William Bredesen of Spokane, Wash., and Edwin Bredesen of Altoona.

 

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Gospel Mission Church, of which he was a member.  The Rev. Lawrence Oman of Chippewa Falls officiated.  Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: Harry Richardson, David Thwing, Harry Stafford, Kenneth Dyre, Conrad Krogness and Arthur Syth.  Norman Munger of Eau Claire sang, "Meet Me There" and "Safe in His Mighty Arms," and accompanied himself on the organ.

 

Out of town people attending were: Mrs. Hilda Anderson of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Ferguson and family of Grand View, Tenn.; Mr. and Mrs. Tim Dunn and family of Racine; Mike Dunn of Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Steve Carter and family of St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bredesen and Mrs. Dorothy Beach of Eau Claire; Mrs. Neil Manuer and Robert Bredesen of Altoona; the Rev. Lawrence Oman of Chippewa Falls; the Rev. Laverne Owen of Wheeler; the Rev. and Mrs. Everett Ratzloff of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Fern T. Harms of Withee; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Frey of Owen; Mrs. Harry Carl of Neillsville; Mrs. Ernest Moile of Unity; Mrs. Garth Luchterhand of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. James Engelbretson, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sorenson, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Sorenson, all of Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lebeck of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Olson of Loyal; and many friends from the surrounding area.
