Davel, Kenneth (07 JUNE 1937-1957)

 

A telegram from the department of the Army was received by Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Davel telling of the death of their son, Pfc. Kenneth Davel. The body was found in the Kinseg River, near Gelnhausen, Germany. The Army is investigating the cause of death.

 

The body is being shipped home and following its arrival, funeral services will be held.

 

Pfc. Davel had been reported as missing for several weeks.

 

He was born in Loyal June 7, 1937. He attended St. Anthony’s school and the Loyal High School from which he graduated in 1955.

 

He entered the servive June 22, 1955 and received his basic training at Ft. Knox, Ky. He was sent overseas June 28, 1956 and at the time of his death had served two years and four months.

 

Pfc. Davel is survived by his parents and his maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Harry DeYoung, New London; five brothers Jerome, Daniel, Thomas, Timothy and Patrick, all of Loyal; and four sisters Mrs. Allan (Mary Ann) Wehrman, Waukegan, Ill., and Marcella, Marliss, and Jacqueline, all of Loyal.
