Garbisch, Martin W. (1 February 1892 - 29 April 1964)

 

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Zion Lutheran Church in Granton for Martin W. Garbisch, 72, who died April 29, at his home on Rt. 1, Granton.  The Rev. F. C. Benecke officiated. Burial was made in the church cemetery. 

 

Martin Garbisch was born February 1, 1892, in the Town of York.  He attended rural schools in York and Mapleworks parochial school in Granton.  He was married on June 24, 1934, to the former Ruth Hammond in Cashton.  He spent his entire life in the Town of York.

 

He was active in public affairs, having served as town chairman, a member of the town board and as trustee of the Zion Lutheran Church.  He also served as treasurer for the church cemetery.

 

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Bonnie) Holub of Beloit; and Miss Rosemary Garbisch of Neillsville; and by two grandchildren.

 

Other survivors are: three brothers, Bernard and Alfred of Granton, and William of Bell Garden, Cal.; four sisters, Mrs. Frieda Dahl of Chili, Mrs. Andrew (Emma) Billman of Bell Garden, Cal., Mrs. Wilbur (Dora) Billman of Burlington, and Mrs. Marion (Gertrude) Schroeder of Racine.

 

Pallbearers were: Harold Schlinsog, Carl Harlin, Otto Schmidtke, Wendell and Jack Crothers and Leland Reich.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton.
