Hansen, Hans C. #2 (4 OCT 1889 - 22 FEB 1962)

The community was saddened Thursday when it learned of the sudden death of Hans C. Hansen, a resident of the Town of Hixon (Clark Co., Wis.) for the past 60 years.  He suffered a heart attack while seated in a chair in the living room of his home early Thursday morning.

He was 72 years, 4 months and 18 days of age.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Feb. 25, from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home.  The Rev. Byrl Knudsen of the Nazareth Lutheran parish, Withee, read the final rites with burial being made in the family lot in the parish cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were John Peterson, John Stock, Earl Peterson, Woodrow Peterson, Tony Jensen and Clarence Miller.  Carrying the floral offerings were Sylvia Peterson, Florence Peterson, Dolores Stock, Rose Pralguske, Tyrni Veurink, Albe Hamm and Pauline Steager.

Born Oct. 4, 1889, in Omaha, Neb., hans moved to the Withee community at an early age.  On Sept. 17, 1914, he was united in marriage to the late Anna Petersen, who preceded him in death, passing away April 6, 1949.  On Nov. 21, 1953, he remarried, exchanging wedding vows with Rose Stock.

During his lifetime Hans farmed successfully until 1956 when he retired.  Meanwhile he wasn’t one to be inactive, but devoted his time to selling insurance for the Lynn Mutual Insurance Co. of Neillsville.  In addition he served as a director of the Federal land Bank Board, was a director of the Midland Cooperative and for years served on the school board of Frenchtown School.

Hans Hansen won admiration and respect of a host of friends, even beyond the radius of his home community, by his friendly easygoing and understanding manner which endeared him to many.

Mourning his sudden passing are his wife and four children by his first marriage, Mrs. Grant (Ethel) Anderson, Withee, and Mrs. Harvey (Helen) Dale, Choteau, Mont.; two sons, Lester, Withee, and Warren of Milwaukee, and 10 grandchildren.
