Marten, Arlene Bernice (29 December 1936 - 16 January 2012)

"In Loving Memory" Heaven’s Newest Angel on January 16, 2012

Arlene was born on December 29, 1936 to John and Alice Widmer (Cammers). She was the cutest little doll, who grew up into a red-head freckled girl, popular and outgoing.  With outstanding grades and love of being a cheerleader, she then graduated from Loyal High School. She met the love of her life, Bill Marten, and married in 1954 in Colby, WI.  While Bill made cheese, Arlene worked in the box factory in Riplinger, WI. They had five children along the way.  After moving through many states to provide for their family they settled in Stanley, WI.  Then they purchased Cloverleaf Cheese Factory, which for 20 year had the pride of world-wide championships.  Arlene enjoyed being secretary, cheese store clerk and making cheese trays.  Arlene loved talking to everyone; she had a gift at it.  She also enjoyed bowling, loved dancing, cooking, camping, traveling and occasionally playing at the casino.  Full of smiles and good humor, Arlene had a passion for her family and helping where she was needed.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; son, Larry Marten; daughter, Sandra (David) Brummel; son, William (Jane) Marten Jr.; son, Allan Marten; son, Randy (Eileen) Marten; grandchildren: Heather and William Barnickel (Marten), Brock Marten, Dustin Marten, Saige Marten, Amber and Derrick Torgerson (Brummel), Erin and Matt Gerlach (Brummel), Holly Brummel, Sara and Tim Treffert (Brummel), Courtney and Blake Johnson (Marten), Shonie Marten, Wesley and Casey Marten, Tara and John Reynolds (Marten), Samantha Marten, and Winston Marten; great-grandchildren: Syndee Barnickel (Marten), Ahren Barnickel (Marten), Victoria Marten, Gracie Marten, Brock  Marten Jr., Ally Torgerson (Brummel), Lilia Gerlach (Brummel), Charlie Johnson (Marten), Walker Johnson (Marten), Gage Marten, Jarrod Marten, Aydden Marten, Ariona Marten, Sierra Marten, Morgan Reynolds (Marten), Peyton Reynolds (Marten), Ethan Reynolds (Marten); sisters: Janet (Widmer) (the late Clifford) Ammons and Judy (Widmer)(Roger) Kilty; nieces and nephews: David and Leslie Ammons, Debbie and Richard Roherty (Ammons), Cheryl Eiberg (Ammons), Kevin Ammons, Terry and Margie Kilty, Brenda and Ken Nelson (Kilty), Brian and Barb Kilty; aunt Virginia McGhee (Cammers).

Arlene was preceded in death by her father, John Widmer; and her uncles: Clarence Cammers, Edward Cammers and Earl Cammers.
