Johnson, Etta (18 SEP 1903 - 17 APR 1963)

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Ed Johnson, 59, from the Methodist Church in Withee.  The Parish rector Rev. Gene Carlson officiated, with burial being made at Riverside Cemetery.

 

Serving as pallbearers were Steven Rued, Herman Heldt, Gaylord Kaduce, George Kaduce, Warren German and Wendell Steiner.  In charge of floral offerings were Mabel Whittemore, Dorothy Burmeister, Leona Himes and Florence Heldt.

 

Born Etta Mae Hodd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hodd, at Stanley, Wis., Sept. 18, 1903, where she spent her childhood and received her education.  She was married to Elmer Martinson at Stanley.   In June 1941she was united in marriage to Edwin Johnson in a ceremony performed at Thorp.  The couple later moved to this community where they had since resided.

 

Mrs. Johnson won considerable fame of late years throughout the state with her ability as an artist, wining several first place awards for her works in showings at Madison and elsewhere.  She was also an ardent lover of horses and an accomplished rider.

 

Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hodd; her husband, Edwin, Owen; three sisters, Mrs. Harris (Ethel) Johnson, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Bogue, Watseka, Ill., and Mrs. Harold (Myrtle) Johnson, Oregon, Ill.; four brothers, Ervin Hodd, Wis. Rapids, Robert Hodd, Abbotsford, Ray Hodd, Hayward, and Floyd Hodd…(the rest of my copy was cut off).
