Holton, Bertha (5 AUG 1884 - 7 APR 1963)

 

Mrs. Bertha Holton, 78, 108 North 3rd Ave. (Marshalltown, Iowa), passed away at the Evangelical Hospital Sunday morning, April 7, 1963, where she had been a patient since March 28th.

 

Born Bertha Jenni, Aug. 5, 1884, in Switzerland.  She spent her early childhood in Switzerland, and at the age of six years came to the United States with her family, and received her education in the Le Grand and Clemons area, the family later moved to Bemidji, Minn., where she completed her education and grew to womanhood.

 

In 1912 she was united in marriage to Ray D. Holton in Bemidji, and they later moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), where they made their home until going to Marshalltown in 1932, where they have since made their home.

 

Mr. Holton passed away in 1936, also preceding her in death were one sister and two brothers.

 

Surviving are two sons, Robert R. Holton of Marshalltown and Richard E. Holton of Primeville, Oregon.  Also surviving are five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one brother, Elmer Jenni, and one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Jeuch, both of Euclid, Minn., one step-brother, Will Rosacker of New Richland, Minn., and one half brother, Harry Rosacker of Hibbing, Minn.

 

Services will be held from the chapel of the Estel-Perrin Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in charge of Rev. Howard Marty, pastor of the First Evangelical United Brethren Church.  Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Ashland, Wis., Friday.
