Stoddard, Emma (15 November 1892 - 13 October 1965)

 

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Methodist Church in Fairchild for Mrs. Emma Stoddard, 72, of Fairchild, who died Wednesday in General Hospital in Madison. The Rev. Ralph Walker of Fairchild officiated.  Burial was made in the Fairchild Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Stoddard, the former Emma Smith, was born November 15, 1892, in Spring Valley, Minn. She attended schools in Minnesota and Wisconsin. She was married July 3, 1910, to Albert Stoddard in Fairchild.  He died in 1952.

 

Mr. Stoddard was an employee of a railroad and the family also was engaged in farming. Mrs. Stoddard worked for several years for the Floyd Olson family and for the last 11 years had made her home at the Albert Flick home.

 

She is survived by six children: Mrs. Kenneth (Viola) Osborne of Wisconsin Rapids; James and Wesley Stoddard of Merrillan; Elmer Stoddard of San Antonio, Tex., Charles Stoddard of Indianapolis, Ind.; and William Stoddard of Ohio City, O.  Other survivors are: five sisters, Mrs. Ida Frank of Merrillan, Mrs. Rose Springer and Mrs. Laura Lauver of Park Falls, Mrs. Mary Springer of Bloomer and Mrs. Fred (Louise) Glunz of St. Paul, Minn.; two brothers, Harry Smith of Snoqualmie, Wash., and George Smith of Merrillan; and 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home in Neillsville.

 

Esther Szydel, accompanied by Mary Boullion, sang, "In the Garden" and "Will There Be any Stars?"

 

Pallbearers were: Peter Reinart, Archie Fradenburg, John A. Burchell, Lloyd Olson, Clyde Reichenbach, and Clarence Phillips.

 

People from away attending the service were: Mrs. Kenneth Osborne of Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. James Stoddard, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Stoddard, Sr., Wesley Stoddard, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. George Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Frank, and Mrs. Ida Frank, all of Merrillan; Mrs. Mary Spranger, and Mr. and Mrs. Sylvan Bleskouk, Michael Bleskouk and Mrs. Gilbert Loew of Bloomer; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ziegler of Trempealeau; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Ziegler of Galesville; Mrs. Nora Hare of Arcadia; Mrs. Howard Duerkop and Craig of Hixton; Mrs. Louise Glunz, Mrs. Dorothy Derks, and E. A. Derks of St. Paul, Minn.; Charles Stoddard of Indianapolis, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. William Stoddard of Ohio City, O.; Mrs. Rose Spranger and Mrs. Laura Lauver of Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Gosar of Willard; and many friends and relatives from the surrounding area.
