Smith, Alice (08 SEPT 1866-17 SEPT 1958)

 

Mrs. Alice Smith, 92, died at Bethel Convalescent Home, Arpin, at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1958 of old age complications.

 

The former Alice Farmer was born at Fond du Lac, Sept. 8, 1866. She was married to Sidney Smith, May 24, 1894. They came to Loyal in 1896 and lived on farms in this vicinity. Her husband diedn January, 1940. Prior to January of 1958 Mrs. Smith made her home with Mrs. Clara Rollins for four years. In January she went to the Bethel Convalescent Home.

 

Funeral services were held at the Mayr Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Norbert King officiated. Burial was in the Loyal Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Hastings Baird, Fred Heiking, Art Lautenbach, Verdard Kauffman, William Tucker, and Hert Brown.

 

Mrs. Smith is survived by three sons, William of Milton Junction, Jess of Lake Geneva, and J. Vernon of Greenwood. Ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren also survive.

 

One son and one daughter preceded her in death.

 

Coming from out of town to attend the funeral service were Mr. and Mrs. William Smith of Milton Junction, Mr. Jess Smith of Lake Geneva, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Brown, Colby, Mr. Al Behling, Raymond Behling, Mrs. Herbert Bohm, and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Finip and family, Vesper, Mr. and Mrs. Helmuth Dueysen, Columbus, Mr. and Mrs. Truman Pederson, Neillsville, Mr. Hastings Baird and Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Schwarze, Greenwood.
