The Rev. Edward Masliewicz, pastor of St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp, has announced that the Rev. William Matzek of Marshfield has assumed the duties of associate pastor of the parish.

Roger R. Kodl of Fallbrook, Cal., is spending a 30-day furlough in Thorp with his parents.

R. C. Possley and son Peter, of River Forest, Ill., have been spending a week’s vacation with his mother, Mrs. Edith Possley, in Thorp.

Mrs. Marvyn Wald, Greg and Diane, of Bangkok, Thailand, are making an extended visit in Thorp with her parents, mr. and Mrs. Justin G. Jakowicz.

Sp/4 Russ Boie, who was on a rest period in Bangkok, Thailand, from his duties in Vietnam, surprised his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Boie of Thorp, by calling and talking to them on the phone.

Royale Hammel, who recently suffered a light stroke while on a weekend camping trip, has been dismissed from the hospital in Tomahawk where he had been a medical patient. Mr. Hammel is a member of the Owen-Withee custodial staff.

W. K. Doonan of Owen is spending several weeks at his summer home on Diamond Lake, near Cable.

Lorie Rinehart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rinehart of Owen, underwent neck surgery recently in the Children’s University Hospital in Madison.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Waldeck and family of Belvidere, Ill., were holiday weekend guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wendt, in Owen.

Earl Miller is convalescing at his home in Withee following surgery in a Rochester, Minn., hospital.

Louis Bartholomay, who has been a patient in a Marshfield hospital, is now a resident at Memorial Home in Neillsville.

Ted Sorenson, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sorensen and son, who spent 10 days visiting relatives in the Withee area, have returned to their home in Los Angeles, Cal.

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Miller of Addison, Ill., have been spending a nine-day vacation in Withee with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Miller.

Miss Charlene Hanson of Withee entertained classmates recently in honor of AFS Samaria Gonzales, who is returning to her native Costa Rica after spending three weeks touring the United States.

Mr. and Mrs. John Nielsen of Williamsburg, Va., who have been spending two weeks visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nielsen, and other Withee area relatives, have returned home.

Sr. M/Sgt. and Mrs. Tom Glesner and family, of Elmendorf AFB at Anchorage, Alaska, were recent guests at the Ralph Miller home in Withee.

S/Sgt and Mrs. Larry Miller and son, who have been stationed at the Elmendorf AFB near Anchorage, Alaska, are spending a 10-day furlough in Withee with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Miller. After July 10 S/Sgt Miller will be stationed at Mellis AFB, near Las Vegas, Nev.

Mrs. A. E. Hansen of Owen underwent eye surgery in an Eau Claire hospital July 7.
