Frank A. Hedemark, 102, of Neillsville died peacefully at the Clark County Health Care Center Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012.

Frank August Hedemark was born in Chicago, IL, Nov. 12, 1909, to Henry and Hanna (Bender) Hedemark. He attended schools in Chicago, graduating from Crane Technical High School and Junior College in 1927. He worked in Chicago for the Stewart-Warner Company for 19 years. Frank was united in marriage to Olga Hribar Sep. 22, 1934, in Chicago. In 1945, he and his wife, Olga, moved to Greenwood and farmed for two years before returning to Chicago. Frank was employed by Standard Coil Products in 1947. In 1956, Frank was given the opportunity to relocate to Toronto, Canada, to help open and work as a salesman for another Standard Coil plant. He worked in Canada for 17 years before retiring in 1972. After retirement, the Hedemarks relocated to Rock Dam, where they lived until 1988, at which time they moved to Neillsville. After the death of his beloved wife Olga in 2007, Frank continued to live in Neillsville until June of this year.

Frank was very active throughout his life. He played golf and hunted into his 90s. He was also a bowler and square dancer while living in Canada. He enjoyed doing daily crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. Frank was a devoted husband and true gentleman. He also had a very good sense of humor and was an extremely positive person. Though never having children of his own, he was “Uncle Frank” to many nieces and nephews, including a great-great-great niece. He was active in the lives of his family and greatly loved by all. Frank was a member of the Living Hope Evangelical Free Church in Neillsville.

Frank is survived by his brothers-in-law, Walter Hribar and William (Mary) Hribar; nieces, nephews and friends.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Olga, Jan. 3, 2007; his parents; one brother, Lawrence; and two sisters, Grace West and Alice Klein.
