Mrs. Charles Churkey passed away at about 10:00 Friday evening March 5th, 1926, at the age of 42 years, 2 months and 10 days., after a very brief but severe illness which began at ten in the morning and lasted until ten in the evening.

Mrs. Churkey, formerly Jennie Emmeline McCammant was born December 23, 1884 at Van Horn, Benton Co., Iowa. When she was a year old her parents moved with her to Millersburg, Ia., where she grew up and was married March 23, 1903 to Mr. Charles Churkey of Deep River, Ia. After their marriage they made their home in Deep River until March 20, 1907, at which time they moved to Hayward, Wis. In the following September they moved to Greenwood, Clark County, where they remained 18 years, making many friends which remain with relatives to mourn her sudden death. In the summer of 1925 they purchased a farm near Owen, Wisconsin, where they still resided at her death.

Two daughters, Loretta Angeline and Gladys Leona, who died in infancy, preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband four sons, Marvin Leslie, aged 22 David Emmanuel, age 16 Charles Donald, age 10 and William Burton, age 5 four brothers, Henry of Greenwood David of Millersburg, Ia. Joshua and Edward of Montezuma, Ia., and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Foot of Baker, Mon., and Mrs. Anna Schrader of Audubon, Ia.

The remains were laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery beside her two infant children.

She was a woman held in high esteem by all who knew her and made friends easily wherever she went. She will leave a vacancy hard to be filled and will not soon be forgotten.
