Photo of Malene Johnasdatter and Jonas Lund

In 1854, Malene Johnasdatter and Jonas Lund married and made their home at Sjomarka, rental place on the Hembre Gaard, from whence they acquired the "Hembre" name. All five of their children: Iver (1858), Edward (1859), Rafael (1862), J. Oline (1864), Jorgine M. (1867)

were born at Sjomarka, which name means: "Land by the Sea". Excerpt taken from pg 22 of Julius Hembre's autobiography, "A Good Time to Live"  (Typewritten 1978-1982)
