Mitchell, Robert (1932 - 1999)

 

Services for Bob Mitchell, 66, Wills Point, Texas, formerly of Stanley, Wisconsin, were held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 3, 1999 at Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point, with Rev. Ken Calhoun officiating. Burial was in the White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point, Texas. Mr. Mitchell died suddenly June 30, 1999.


Bob was born December 6, 1932 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Wills Point High School and from North Texas State University. On April 4, 1954 he married Patricia Ann Thurmon. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. He was a former President of Stanwood Corp., Stanley, WI and August Lotz, Inc., Boyd, WI, and a former member of the Stanley Lions Club.


He moved back to Texas from Wisconsin in 1990. He was a member of the Wills Point Kiwanis Club, president of the Will Point Historical Society and president of the Wills Point Wilderness Society. He was a former Chairman of East Texas Council of Governments and former mayor of Wills Point. He was an active member of Russell Memorial United Methodist Church.


Survivors include his wife, Pat Mitchell, Wills Point, sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Gretchen Mitchell, Indianapolis, Indiana and Marty and Joy Mitchell, Wausau daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Jim Trester, Plano, Texas, brother Ben Mitchell, Wills Point and six grandchildren.
