JOE TOLANEY


Joe Tolaney, Sr., 68, of 211 North Hendren Ave., Greenwood, Clark County, passed away suddenly at 8:45 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1976, at his home of an apparent heart attack.


Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. Rev. Robert Houston officiated, and burial was made in Holy Family Cemetery, Willard. Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of arrangements.


Joe Tolaney, Sr., was born to Anton and Mary (Stupica) Tolaney at Tower, Minn., on Sept. 21, 1908. He received his education at the Tioga School. On Nov. 11, 1939, he was married to Jennie Horvat. They farmed in the Tioga, Clark County area until 1968, when they moved to Greenwood. He worked for the past few years at Black River Campers, Greenwood. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Greenwood and the Knights of Columbus.


Surviving him are his wife, Jennie three sons, Joe, Jr., Route 1, Willard, John, Milwaukee and Tony, Los Angeles, Calif. three daughters, Mrs. Leroy (Joanne) Kesler, Greenwood, Mrs. Alvin (Angeline) O'Brien, Racine, and Mrs. Frank (Marjorie) Wilhelm, Milwaukee two brothers, Tony, Steven Point and John, Memorial Home, Neillsville two sisters, Mrs. Angleline Jeras, Lyons, Ill. and Sister Margaret Ann, Baraboo and 15 grandchildren.


Pallbearers were Frank, Tony and Ludwig Perushek, Bernard Walker, John Champa and John Francel.


He was preceded in death by his parents and two sister.

Tolaney, Joe, Sr. (21 September 1908 – 15 December 1976)

Joe Tolaney, Sr., 68, died unexpectedly about 8:45 p.m. December 15 at his home in Greenwood. Death was attributed to an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Tolaney was born September 21, 1908, in Tower, Mn. On November 11, 1939, he married the former Jennie Horvat in Willard.

He received an education at the Tioga School and later farmed in the Tioga area. In 1968, they retired from farming and moved to Greenwood. The past several years he had been employed by Black River Camp0ers of Greenwood.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Fatima council.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Joe, Jr., of Willard, John of Milwaukee and Tony of Los Angeles, CA.; three daughters, Mrs. Leroy (Joanne) Kesler of Greenwood, mrs. Alvin (Angeline) O’Brien of Racine and mrs. Frank (Marjorie) Wilhelm of Milwaukee; two brothers, Tony of Stevens Point; and John of Neillsville; two sisters, Mrs. Angeline Jeras of Lyons, Il., and Sister M. Margaret Ann of Baraboo; and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. Burial was made in the Holy Family Cemetery in Willard. The Rev. Robert Houston officiated.

Pallbearers were, Frank Perushek, Tony Perushek, Ludwig Perushek, Bernard Walker, John Champa and John Francel.
