James Charles & Lillian (Hanson) Martindale

James was born August 10, 1879, the son of Samuel and Lucy Janette (Nutting) Martindale.  His father was born in Vermont and is mother was a native of Jefferson Co., New York.  Both parents are buried in the Weston East Cemetery which is now known as "Chapel Hill".  Lillian (b. 2 May 1886 Neillsville, WI, d. Mar 1969 Portland, Multnomah, OR), the daughter of Hans and Emma Hanson and James were married March 8, 1905 (pg. 5, Vol. 3).  James was a restaurant manager and at the time of the 1920 Census, they were managing the Kirby Apt. House on E. Morrison St. in Portland, OR.  James died in March, 1965 in Oregon.

Christie News--Jim Martindale, who has been in the Philippines for three years, came home last Tuesday.  He says he does not care to go back.  3/26/1903 Greenwood Gleaner

Jim was my grandmother's half-brother - almost 40 years younger than she.  I didn't know he was in the Phillipines.  My grandfather, Sam DeMouth, was over there in the 1900 census.  Perhaps they were over together.  Dianne.
