Egbert, Rev. Orval (29 October 1904 - 29 July 1966)

Funeral services were held from Immanuel United Church of Christ in Greenwood Monday afternoon for the Rev. Orval Egbert, 61, who died last Friday night in a Marshfield hospital. He had been ill for about three months.  In charge of the service was the Rev. James Savides of Eau Claire.

The Rev. Ebert had been confined to the hospital since June 29.  He had served the Greenwood and Braun Settlement congregations of the United Church from June of 1958 until June of this year.

Mr. Egbert was born October 29, 1904, in Gypsum, Kans., and received his education for the ministry at Mission House Academy and at Lakeland College, Sheboygan. Graduating in 1936, from Mission House seminary, he took up his first pulpit in Lone Tree, Ia.  In 1939 he went to Oshkosh where he served until June of 1946, when he accepted a pastorate at Chilton.  He also served for two years at Junction City, Kans., before coming to Greenwood on June 10, 1958. Ill health forced his resignation from the two Greenwood congregations on June 1 of this year.

Survivors include: his wife, the former Alice Harshman; three sons, Dale of Oshkosh, S/Sgt. Duane, who is stationed at Ft. Campbell, Ky., and Edwin, a cadet at the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Claude of McCune, Kans., and Jake of Salina, Kans.; a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Alice) Weber of McPherson, Kans.; and a grandson.

Cadet Edwin C. Egbert of the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado arrived Saturday.
