Strzok, Edward Michael (1 June 1929 – 13 May 2012) With Flag

 

Edward M. Strzok, age 82, of Chetek, formerly of Thorp, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Bloomer, with his family at his side.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Donald Meuret will officiate and burial will follow in Old St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Emil Gluck, Jeffrey Lenfant, Marc Lenfant, Paul Kollwitz, Zach Redner and Dylan Rupel.  Military rites will be conducted by the Thorp American Legion Post #118. Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary service. Visitation was also held at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service.

 

Edward Michael Strzok was born on June 1, 1929, in Thorp, WI, the son of Andrew and Julia (Salwach) Strzok.  He was raised on the family farm and attended area schools.  Ed was united in marriage to Dorothy Milewski on August 18, 1951, at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. They moved to Chicago area until Ed went into the U. S. Army.  He served in the 4th Armour Division in Frankfurt, Germany after his basic training at Fort Jackson, S. C. Upon his discharge, they made their home in Chicago and Palatine, IL, where Ed was a contractor in the construction business. In 1977, he and his wife moved to Thorp, where he continued using his carpentry skills until retiring in 1995.  Ed then moved to his home on Lake Chetek, where he enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening, and entertaining family and friends.

 

He is survived by his daughter: Rita (Kevin) Lenfant of Bloomer; three grandchildren: Jeff (Heather) Lenfant of Menomonie, Marc (Denise) Lenfant of Chippewa Falls, Amanda (Paul) Kollwitz of New Auburn; seven great-grandchildren: Zach, Dylan, Emma, Eaton, Jett, Lincoln and Livia; two sisters: Lucille (Ted) Salwach of Wausau, Dorothy (Steve) Niechcielski of Schwenksville, PA; one sister in law, Joanne (Al) Gluck of Menomonie; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, on April 15, 1992; his parents; one brother, Frank; and his in- laws: Mike and Jeanette Milewski.

 

Ed will always be remembered for his talented carpentry skills and as a loving father, understanding grandfather and watchful great-grandfather.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
