Garbisch, Mary Ellen Norma (Marriage -1966)

Nuptial vows were exchanged Saturday in a double ring ceremony in the Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant uniting in marriage Miss marry Ellen Norma Garbisch of Rt. 2 Granton, and Ronald Gene Koplitz of Oshkosh. The Rev. Raymond E. Poff of Oshkosh was assisted by the Rev. Evan Dieck in performing the marriage ceremony. Two vases of white carnations graced the altar and white satin bows marked the front pews.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Garbisch of Rt. 2, Granton, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Koplitz of Oshkosh.

Two hundred fifty guests witnessed as the bride approached the altar with her father. The bride wore a chapel-length gown styled with a fitted Chantilly lace bodice, enhanced with a Sabrina neckline and long lace sleeves.  Her bouffant skirt of Chantilly lace ruffles was elaborated with iridescent sequins and two lade roses. A fingertip bouffant veil of silk illusion was attached to a white crown of pearls and crystals.  She carried a bridal bouquet of white glamilia, accented with greens.

Mrs. Norman Wesenberg of Granton was matron-of-honor.  Bridesmaids were Miss Bonnie Roberts and Miss Barbara Roberts, both of Oshkosh, and Miss Beverly Hiles of Granton.  The attendants wore floor length silk organza sleeveless gowns, veiled over Chantilly lace with bodice bolero effects, further detailed with matching satin cummerbunds and bows. Their matching headpieces of silk petals and pearl were attached to circular veils. The matron of honor wore a maize-colored gown, while the bridesmaids’ gowns were Nile green.  They carried cascade arrangements of foliage.

Miss Lauri Koplitz of Oshkosh, in her role of miniature bride, wore a dress and veil identical to that of the bride and carried a small glamilia bouquet.

Darrell Koplitz of Oshkosh was the bestman.  Groomsmen were Norman Wesenberg and Gary Garbisch of Granton, and Alfred Kruse of LeMars, Ia.  Ushers were Wallace Krause of Menomonee Falls and Robert Zentner of Oshkosh. Robert Tykac of Carrollton, GA., was the miniature groom.

“O Perfect Love” was sung by the congregation, with the bride and groom singing “The Wedding Prayer.”  “The Lord’s Prayer” was sung by Darrell Koplitz.  Miss Colleen Montgomery of Granton was the accompanist.

The new Mrs. Koplitz is a graduate of Granton High School in 1962, and of Wartburg College, Waverly, Ia., in 1966.  She will teach the first grade in Bellevue, Ia., this fall.

Mr. Koplitz, a 1961 graduate of Oshkosh Senior High School, was graduated in 1965 from Wartburg College with a B. A. Degree.  Currently he is a student at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Ia., where he is preparing for the ministry in the American Lutheran Church.

The bride is a member of the Iowa National Education Association and Mr. Koplitz is affiliated with Chi Rho Fraternity.

Mr. and Mrs. Koplitz will reside at the seminary in Dubuque, Ia., on their return from a two-week wedding trip to the Black Hills, Yellowstone National Park, Salt Lake City, Utah, the Grand Canyon and part of Colorado.
