St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp, was the setting for the wedding Saturday, July 1st, 1961 of Miss Sharon Krupa and Sam E. Johnson, daughter and son of Mr. Michael Krupa and the late Mrs. Lucille Krupa of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Johnson, Greenwood.

The Rev. Robert Olson officiated at the double ring ceremony held at 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon. Organist was Mrs. Boardman and the soloist was Miss Linda Tieman.

The bride approached the altar on the arm of her father dressed in a floor length gown of nylon lace over taffeta. The fitted bodice was designed with a scoop neckline and long sleeves that came to points over the wrists. The back of her full skirt was made in alternate ruffles of nylon lace front was tulle and the nylon lace front was gathered at the waist and drawn up in front over ruffles of nylon tulle and was held in place by three artificial roses made of lace. Her elbow length veil was held in place by a crown of rhinestones and seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of red American beauty roses.

Miss Vonnie Krupa, Milwaukee, served her sister as maid of honor. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses and white stephanotis.

The bridesmaids, Miss Carolyn Doege and Miss Peggy Hendricks, friends of the bride, Thorp, carried cascade bouquets of white carnations and white stephanotis. All three attendants wore street length gowns of orchid nylon sheer designed with fitted midriff, shirred bodice front, a scooped neckline, and wore matching white gloves and shoes. Their headdresses were dainty doll hat of horse braid rosette with a lily of the valley trim and short veils.

Miss Mary Ann Prust, Plymouth, niece of the groom, as miniature bride, wore a gown identical to the bride. Her headdress had white roses and short veil. She carried a miniature bouquet exactly like the bride.

Dale Johnson, brother of the groom, Eau Claire, was best man, and groomsmen were Cedric Boe and Harry Johnson, friend and brother of the groom respectively. Joey Lee, Duluth, cousin of the bride, was miniature groom.

Brian Krupa and Ray Johnson, brother of the bride and groom, served in the role of ushers.

Supper for approximately 130 guests was served in the church parlors at 5:00 p.m. A dance at the Thorp American Legion Hall concluded the day’s festivities.

The bride is a 1960 graduate of Thorp High School and has been employed at the U.S.F. & G. Company in Milwaukee. The groom graduated from Greenwood High School in 1951 and is employed at the H. & K. Chevrolet Garage in Greenwood.

The young couple will make their home in Greenwood.

Guests came from Thorp, Greenwood, Plymouth, Loyal, Waupaca, Milwaukee, Chicago, Duluth and Minneapolis, Minn., Gilman, Cornell, Osseo, Eau Claire, Wausau, Stanley, Cadott, Boyd, Chippewa Falls, Roberts and Waukesha.
