Scherer, Elizabeth M. (11 July 1884 - 23 June 1967)

Funeral services were conducted Monday at 10 a.m. from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville for Mrs. Elizabeth M. Scherer, 82, of Memorial Home, who died Friday. Msgr. Norbert E. King of Loyal officiated. Burial was made in the parish cemetery. A general rosary service was said Sunday evening.

Mrs. Scherer, the former Elizabeth Ritzel, was born July 11, 1884, in Neillsville. She attended Neillsville schools and had made Neillsville her home with exception of a few years spent in La Crosse. In 1964 she returned here and had made her home in Memorial Home.

On October 27, 1908, she was married in Neillsville to the late Mathias Scherer, who died in 1952.

Mrs. Scherer is survived by two sisters, Miss Sadie Ritzel of Chippewa Falls, and Mrs. Carl (Gertrude) Thoma of Neillsville; and by a brother, Joseph A. Ritzel of Neillsville.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Everett Skroch, Elton Imig, Carl Kessler, Henry Langreck, Henry Wasserburger and William Schwellenbach.

People from away here for the service included Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mills of Eau Claire; and Mrs. Vera Rentz of Sparta.
