Koschak, Josephine (Abt. 1925-23 Aug 2012)

Josephine V. Koschak, 87, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Orange Park, Fla. Interment was in Jacksonville Memory Gardens next to her husband, Ludwig.

Josephine Francel was born in Willard, into a family of 12 children to parents Frank and Johannah (nee Kozar) Francel. She moved to Clay County, Fla., In 1960, after living in many states due to her husband’s naval assignments. She retired from the Navy Exchange, was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and the Fleet Reserve Auxiliary Branch 91. She was a loving and supportive Navy wife throughout her husband’s career. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ludwig, in 1992, who was also born in Willard. In 1985, Josephine fulfilled a lifelong dream of traveling to her parent’s homeland of Yugoslavia, visiting one of her aunts. She was well known by all her family and friends as an excellent cook, making traditional Slovenian foods including potica.

Josephine was a beloved mother of three children, Josephine (Tom) Dryden, James (Beverly) Koschak, and Janet (Shane) Middleton; four grandchildren, James (Jill) Giles, Joy (Rexcel) Marin, Daniel Williams and David Williams; and three great-grandchildren, Jackson Giles, Baily Rose Giles and Josiah Marin. Jo leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins, and a sister, Hedwig Bauer, Loyal.
