Smith (Westerberg)(Johnson), Eda  (17 JAN 1884 – 14  MAR 1963)

Mrs. Eda Smith, 79, route 1, Loyal, died at 2 a.m. Monday morning in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield where she had been a patient for the past two months.  Death was attributed to old age complications.

Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Myre Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Doering, pastor of the Loyal Methodist Church officiating.  Burial was in the Loyal cemetery.

The former Eda Johnson was born January 17, 1884 in Kristina, Finland and came to this country at the age of 19 with her parents.  They settled on a farm in the town of Beaver.  She was married to Alfred Westerberg in 1904 in the town of Beaver.  Her second marriage was to Henry Smith in 1909 in the town of Beaver.  Following her marriage she continued to live on various farms in the town of Beaver.  Mr. Smith died in 1948.

Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Segre) Treankler, Milwaukee; and Mrs. Roy (Aleda) Damitz, Cudahy; two sons, Henry of Greenwood and Lawrence of Loyal; three grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Ted (Hilda) Hill, Dixon, Illinois.

Three sisters, three brothers and a grandson preceded her in death.
