Panek, Daniel Joseph “Danny” (9 February 1941 - 23 November 2012)

Daniel Joseph “Danny” Panek, 71, Zephyrhills, FL, died Friday, November 23, 2012, at Heartland Nursing Home, Zephyrhills, FL, from complications of bladder cancer.

He was born on February 4, 1941, in Chicago, IL, to the late Joseph and Estelle (Koscielski) Panek. Daniel was Chicago’s first “Blue Baby.” The family moved to Thorp, WI in 1947. Daniel lived on the family farm with is parents until they retired in 1971. Then he lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Dale Revoy, on the same “family” farm until 1991. He retired in 1991, moved to the city of Thorp and lived with his mother, Estelle Panek. He moved to Zephyrhills, FL in 2000, where he lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Ron Rosengren.

Daniel loved his nieces and nephews, Polka music, the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Danny’s years in Zephyrhills were very enjoyable, where he made many new friends. He went to the pool almost every day, played shuffleboard three times a week, enjoyed his evening walks, and Monday Night Kitchen (Senior Meals).

He is survived by four sisters: LaVerne (Chet) Forrester of South Haven, MI, Diane (Ron) Rosengren and Joanne (Dale) Revoy of Zephyrhills, FL, and Debby Billerbeck of River Falls, WI; nieces and nephews: Jim (Kim) Forrester, Karen (Randy) Ciokiewicz, Lisa Willobee, Sean Forrester, goddaughter and niece, Estelle Revoy, Mary Revoy, Amy Peterson; great nephew, Michael (Lori) Ciokiewicz; great nieces: Shelby Meyers, Katlyn Goodrode, Paige and Olivia Peterson; great-great nephews, Seth and Ian Ciokiewicz; two aunts: Marge Oelberg and Tosh Stuesser, and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held in Zephyrhills, FL, January 2013. Memorial burial service will be held in Thorp, WI in the summer of 2013, interment at St. Hedwig’s Country Cemetery.
