Pierce, Henry G. (2 January 1893 - 24 October 1967)
Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:30 o’clock from the 
Georgas Funeral Home for Henry G. Pierce, 74, of Rt. 2 Neillsville, who died 
Tuesday at his home. The Rev. W. C. Koehler of the United Church of Christ will 
officiate. Burial will be made in the Mentor Cemetery, near Humbird.
Mr. Pierce was born January 2, 1893, in Taylor County. He attended schools in 
the Humbird area and later worked at various jobs and also farmed. A veteran of 
World War I, he entered the armed forces in April, 1918, and was discharged at 
Camp Grant, Ill., on December 12, 1918. He was married in 1955 to the former Eva 
Trader in Iowa.
Mr. Pierce is survived by his wife; four step-children, Clam Trader and Mrs. 
Henry Cummings of Marshfield, Mrs. Rodger Kurtzwig of Rockford Ill., and Mrs. 
Anna Tanck of Wausau; and by the following cousins: Earl Pierce of Neillsville, 
Mrs. Elgie Hardwick of Humbird, Mrs. Alfred (Agnes) Frank of Merrillan, Mrs. Art 
(June) Meinholt and Mrs. Tom (Beatrice) Finch, all of Merrillan; also fifteen 
grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. 
He was a member of the Melcher-Matti Post No. 320, American Legion of Humbird.

Funeral services were held last week Thursday from the Georgas Funeral Home for 
Henry G. Pierce, 74, of rural Neillsville, who died October 24. The Rev, W. C. 
Koehler of the United Church of Christ officiated. Burial was made in Mentor 
Cemetery. Harold Losey of the Melchor-Matti Post No. 320, of the American Legion 
conducted the graveside services.
Pallbearers were Harold L. Losey, Wesley Washburn, John A. Burchell, Harry 
Jennings, N. S. Fristad and M. C. Dignin, all Legionnaires. 
“The Lord is My Shepherd” and “Near to the Heart of God” were sung by Mrs. W. C. 
Koehler, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.
People from out of town here for the funeral included: Mr. and Mrs. Clem Trader, 
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Trader, Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Konraidy, Joe Trader, Diane 
Neal and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cummings, all of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Donald 
Fleischman of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Losey of Fairchild; Mr. and Mrs. 
Robert Trader of Brookfield, Ill.; Mrs. Ernest Tanck of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. 
Henry Kostlevy of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. John Burchell, Mrs. Lewis Fitzmaurice, 
Mrs. Annie Fitzmaurice, Daisy Stevens, Ernest Stevens, Milton Washburn, Wesley 
Washburn, Mrs. Emma O’Leary, Mrs. Freda Barr and daughter, and Melvin Markham 
all of Humbird.
