Two Loyal youths lost there lives last Saturday evening when their automobiles crashed headon on the 26 Road in front of the Hugo Stutte farm home about 8 p.m.

The two killed were William Haslow, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Haslow, of route 2 and Larry L. Gallant, 18, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claire Gallant.

Gallant was dead on arrival at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield and Haslow died about two hours after being admitted to the hospital. Both suffered brain concussions, internal injuries & cuts and bruises. Each were alone in the car.

Officials who investigated at the scene said the accident occurred near the center of the roadway on the crest of a hill. The Gallant auto was traveling west and Haslow was going east. Both cars were complete wrecks.

According to officials, another car had just passed through the area raising a cloud of dust, and apparently neither driver was the other before the accident. Officials estimated their probable speed at about 35 miles per hour. Investigating were Clark County Traffic Officers Dale Schultz and Richard Needham, Loyal Chief Pat Duell Sheriff Ray Kutsche, Undersheriff Robert Lulloff.

A large number of motorists were attracted to the scene. An ambulance from Loyal and one from Greenwood were called to transport the victims to the hospital.
