Martin, Gertrude (17 OCT 1917)

The Mapleworks German Lutheran Church was on Wednesday the beautiful scene of a double wedding when the Misses ruby and Gertrude Martin, daughters and only children of Mr. and Mrs. John Martin of Lynn (Clark Co., Wis.), were married. Miss Ruby, the eldest, was united with Mr. William Dankemyer, who is the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Aug. F. Dankemyer of Chili, and Miss Gertrude, the younger, was united with Mrs. Arno Ross, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ross of the town of Fremont. The happy brides were very charmingly dressed in gowns of white silk crepe du chien trimmed with silver lace and pearls and each wore full length tulle bridal veils and carried handsome shower bouquets of bridal roses and smilax. Miss Ruby's bridesmaids were his sister, Miss Hannah Dankemyer, who wore a dress of pale yellow silk messaline, and Miss Anna Sternitzky, a cousin of the bride, who was dressed in light blue silk crepe du chien. Mr. Dankemyer's attendants were the bride's cousins, Ferdinand Riedel of Nasonville and Henry Helm of Lynn. Miss Gertrude's bridesmaids were her cousins, Gertrude Helm and Edna Sternitzky of Lynn. The former wore pale pink silk crepe du chien and the latter appeared in pale green silk crepe du chien. Mr. Ross' attendants were his brother Hugo and their cousin Carl Jens, the latter of Plymouth. The four bridesmaids each carried handsome bouquets of pink and white carnations and all gentlemen of the wedding party wore the usual black.

Rev. M. Hasz, the resident pastor, officiated on this auspicious occasion, and the solemn vows were spoken before a large audience of loving relatives and admiring friends of the contracting parties. Immediately after the ceremony the bridal parties and their invited guests entered awaiting automobiles and were taken to the home of the bride's parents, where a reception was held and a bounteous wedding supper enjoyed by some 125 guests. The spacious parlors and dining room were beautifully decorated with festoons of pink and white crepe paper and white paper bells. The tables with their immaculate linen, pretty dishes and silver were well set off by bouquets of white and pink carnations and garlands of smilax.

Mr. and Mrs. William Dankemyer will take up residence in Lynn. Mr. Dankemyer, who is a practical experienced and well to do young farmer, will assume the management of his father-in-law's farm, which he has rented and where they will reside.

Mr. and Mrs. Arno Ross will become Granton residents, taking up residence here in the groom's fine home recently purchased and made ready for their occupancy here on the west side of the village. Mr. Ross holds a responsible position here in the H.C. Witte store.

Both brides are accomplished young ladies, and hold in high esteem by their every acquaintance, and both grooms are young men of industry with good moral habits. That success, prosperity and long lives of happiness may be the portion for these estimable young people, is the wish of the many friends and in which wish The News joins.
