Larson, Mary (1834? – Dec 1908)

Miss Laura Larson of Plains, Montana sent us the following clipping of the death of her mother, Mrs. Mary Larson, wife of Christian Larson, who died the same year they came to plains, 1899. These people are probably well known to some of the old timers around Greenwood:

“The remains of Mrs. Mary Larson, who died in Missoula last week, were shipped to Plains and laid to rest Friday forenoon in the local cemetery.

“The services were held from the Congregational Church and were conducted by Rev. A. V. Anderson of Missoula, who made a special trip for that purpose. The minister preached a very impressive sermon and appropriate music was rendered. Those who officiated as pallbearers were E. S. Castlio, Nick Blake, John Morrison, Andy Lansing, A. R. Rhone and Louis Ostlie.

“Mrs. Larson was seventy-four years old and a native of Norway. She came to Plains in 1899, where she has since resided, with the exception of occasional visits with her daughter, Mrs. Joe La Port of Missoula. The only other child, Miss Laura Larson, is a resident of this city.

“The deceased was a highly respected woman and the many friends of the family sympathize with them in the hour of their trouble.”
