Thorp High School (FFA Awards Banquet – 7 May 2016)

Saturday, May 7th, was a big night for area FFA and FFA Alumni members – gathering together to commemorate the 76th Annual FFA Banquet at the Thorp High School. Hosted by the FFA Officers, the local chapter welcomed the room full of FFA Alumni members, current Middle and High School members, and friends and family before sitting down to a delicious dinner.

During the Awards Banquet portion of the evening, members of the Thorp FFA and the Thorp FFA Alumni presented some of their prestigious awards to individuals and families from the Thorp area who have excelled in the agriculture field and who have found ways to support and encourage the local FFA and FFA Alumni organizations, as well as awarding scholarships and grants.

FFA Alumni President Amy Penterman presented the Friend of the Alumni award to Philip Haas of Haas Sons, Inc. for their continued service to the local FFA and FFA Alumni throughout the years.

Mike Lewien of the Alumni presented Joe and Geri Borowski with the farmer of the year award – honoring them for their years’ worth of dedicated work on their farm.

Evey year, the Thorp FFA Alumni presents current FFA members funds to assist them in bringing an animal to the Clark County Fair. This year Mike Lewien presented ten students funds for the 2016 fair before announcing the 2016 FFA Scholarships in the amount of $500 to Vanessa Nicpon, Stephanie Hoff, Amber Noah and Catie Cortese.

FFA officer Taylor Karaba then awarded the Distinguished Service award to the entire kitchen staff in The Thorp Public Schools. The kitchen staff has served in many FFA and FFA Alumni events throughout the year, including the annual FFA and FFA Alumni Banquet.
