The crew of wire workers, who were stringing the wire from Winona to Hatfield
for the La Crosse Water Power Company, finished through and connected at the
power house Monday, thus supplying the final connecting link to make what is
expected to be the biggest water power in the state of Wisconsin. The current
has doubtless since been turned on, and this long projected and confidently
anticipated powerful impetus to metropolitan industry at motors and the proofs
of efficiency to complete the fact. That the proofs will be forthcoming is the
wish of every good citizen, but it seems to the Banner a matter of profound
regret that uses for the power could not be found nearer the base of supply.
