Grzegorek, Joseph C. Jr. (January 17, 1944 - November 21, 2009)
 
Joseph C. Grzegorek Jr., 65, Medford, died Saturday, Nov. 21 at Memorial
Health Center emergency room, where he had been taken earlier by ambulance.
 
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 25 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church
in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating.
Burial was at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford, with graveside military rites performed by the Lublin American Legion Post No. 547 military honors team. Pallbearers were members of the Medford VFW Men's Auxiliary.
 
Joseph Grzegorek Jr. was born January 17, 1944 in Chicago, Ill., to the late
Joseph and Alice (Lewandowski) Grzegorek Sr.
 
He attended Lauderdale Elementary School in Dorchester, Cloverdale
Elementary School in the Town of Gad and was a graduate of Medford High
School.
 
On April 29, 1967 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, he married Laverne
Vesnefsky, who survives. He served in the United States Army during the
Vietnam War. After the military, he worked at Copps IGA, then at Weather
Shield in Medford for 43 years until his recent retirement. During retirement, he did volunteer work for local military service organizations.
 
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Lublin American Legion Post
No. 547 and Medford VFW Men's Auxiliary. He enjoyed bird watching,
gardening, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, ice fishing, yard work, camping and traveling. He was recently recognized as a 10 gallon blood donor.
 
In addition to his wife, survivors include three children, Robert Joe and Billy Joe, both of Menomonie, and Tammy Lynn (Jamie) Curtis of Kennan; a half-sister, Barbara Jari of Rothschild; three stepbrothers, Bob (Laverne) Jari, James (Lois) Jari and Matt (Carole) Jari, all of Medford; three stepsisters, Josephine Ziegler and Marie Jari, both of Medford, and Marge (Bob) Barker of Rockford, Ill.; and four grandchildren, Tyler Grzegorek, Kyle Grzegorek, Kayla Curtis and Brandon Curtis.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, James
Casmir in 1999; and a stepbrother, Joseph Jari Jr. in 2009.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the family to be designated at a later date.
 
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
