Treptow, Arline M. (February 11, 1925 - September 20, 2009)  

Arline M. Treptow, 84, Medford, died Sunday, Sept. 20 at her home, under the care of her loving family and Hope Hospice.  

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 22 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger officiating. Cremainal inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Patrick's Countryside Cemetery in McHenry, Ill. Family served as pallbearers. 

The former Arline Roe was born February 11, 1925 in Chicago, Ill., to the late Clarence and Marie G. (O'Malley) Roe. She graduated from St. Cornelius High School in Chicago, Ill. After high school she worked as a bookkeeper at Kemper Insurance in Long Grove, Ill. 

On September 7, 1943 in New York, N.Y., she married Robert D. Treptow, who preceded her in death on March 15, 1986. In 1977 they moved to the Medford area where they owned and operated a small dairy farm. She also worked at the Medford Co-op in the deli until her retirement in 2003. 

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the AARP and the Hospice Club, and past member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Zurich, Ill. Arline was the organist for St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, and played nearly every day for 16 years. She taught herself how to play piano and was a ceramist. She also enjoyed gardening, needlework, her computer and watching birds. She enjoyed her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. 

Every year we met for our family reunion and Christmas get-together. The person that brought us all together was Arline Treptow. She was our mother, grandmother and friend. She impacted all of our lives by being the most caring and selfless person we have ever known. Arline always put everyone before herself, even in death, she cared more about her daughters getting some rest than her own pain. She taught each of us something that we will never forget, whether that is playing chopsticks on the piano or loving and caring for people no matter their race or beliefs. Every person that knew her can agree she was an amazing person in life and will not be forgotten in death. With 10 children, 32 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, her love will be felt for generations to come. 

Survivors include ten children, Robert (Lois) of Gardner, Mass., Durrelle (Ralph) Whitmore and Susie (Mark) Kalmon, both of Medford, Jan Treptow of Chicago, Nancy (Ludwick) Janda of Berwyn, Ill., Thomas (Penny), Larry (Jodi) and Therese (Paul) Hinga, all of McHenry, Barbara (Tom) Riley of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Katie (Bob) Schoelzel of Appleton; special companion, Herman Henry; 34 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Muriel Zamor; and one brother, John.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Arline's name and contributions may be directed in the care of her family.
