Tanner, Gary L. (9 Apr. 1953 - 7 Apr. 2009)

MEDFORD -- Gary "Tuna" L. Tanner, 55, Medford, died April 7, 2009, at his residence. Per Gary's wishes, a remembrance and gathering will be held at the Last Resort in Stetsonville from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 18, with full military honors performed at 1 p.m. by the Boxrucker-Berry American Legion Post No. 519.

Hemer Funeral Home of Medford is assisting the family with arrangements.

There will also be a Celebration of Life at Tanners Tap on Main Street in Omro from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009.

Gary was born April 9, 1953, in Oshkosh, the son of Willis R. and Helen (Deyoe) Tanner. He served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1974. He worked at Arrowhead Conveyors, Leach Company and Quick Construction. He then moved to Stetsonville where he purchased the bar on the corner of County Road A and Highway 13 that he named "Tanners."

He is survived by his stepdaughter, Kelly (Mel) Larsen of Withee and their three children; and step-son, Keith Binder and his child. He is further survived by two brothers, Edward Tanner of Oshkosh and Chuck (Barbara) Tanner of Omro; two sisters, Mary Wuske of Berlin and Sandy (Richard) Kettlewell of Omro.
