Weinberger, Edward H. (25 Oct. 1916 – 20 Apr. 2006)

PARK FALLS - Edward H. Weinberger, age 89, of Medford, formerly of Park Falls, died Wednesday, April 20, 2006 at Northern Lights Health Care Center in Washburn. He was born on October 25, 1916 in the Town of Greenwood, near Rib Lake, the son of John and Anna (Ernst) Weinberger. He attended the Bruch School in the Town of Chippewa near Butternut. On August 5, 1939 he married Dorothy Heyel in Park Falls. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 in the European Theater during W.W. II and received the Bronze Star. In his early years he worked in logging camps and in the sawmill industry and then worked for Amoco Oil company for 30 years until retiring in 1976. In 1997 Edward and Dorothy moved to Medford. He was a former member of the Park Falls American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener.

He is survived by two sons, Edward (Kathleen) of Iron River and Charles (Cheryl) of Plymouth, Minn.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry (Rose Ann) of Park Falls; two sisters, Heddy (Jim) Jirschele of Park Falls and Rosella Beary of Union Grove; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy in 2005; an infant daughter, Constance; seven brothers: John, Joseph, Frank, Adolph, William, George, and Bernard; and two sisters, Mary Bruch and Ann Hoffman. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 24, at 1 p.m. from St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Park Falls. Fr. James Jackson will officiate.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday from 12 p.m. until the hour of the service at the church.

Interment will take place at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls.

The Novitzke Funeral Home in Park Falls is handling the arrangements.
