Engel, David William (October 11, 1945 - October 2, 1967)

“Sons Of The Congregation Who Entered The Ministry”

“In Memorium”

David William Engel, son of the late pastor and Mrs. A. J. Engel, was born on October 11, 1945, at Portage, Wisconsin.

He came to Medford with his parents and family when his father became pastor of Emmanuel’s congregation in 1948.

After completing his elementary education in our Christian Day School, he enrolled in Northwestern Preparatory School in Watertown, Wisconsin for his high school studies and then continued at Northwestern College.

In September of 1967, he entered his senior year at the College.

On October 1st, 1967, he suffered injuries in a car-deer related accident, which resulted in his death the next day. In attempting to avoid hitting the first deer, his car struck another deer and he lost control of the vehicle. A friend with him, who was then also a student at the Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon suffered only minor injuries.

He would have been 23 years old in nine days. Rest in Peace.
