Amacher, Ronald "Mick" Wayne (1938? - February 15, 2009)

Ronald "Mick" Wayne Amacher, 71, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2009 doing what he loved, playing slots at the casino.

Mick was the first born son of Fred and Grace (Bockin) in Medford. He attended elementary schools in Stetsonville and the Poppe School in Longwood. He graduated in 1955 from Withee High School.

On October 7, 1961 "was the year the war began" marrying the love of his life, Joan Catherine Weller in Abbotsford. Together, they operated Amacher Milk Hauling until 1984. In 1985 Mick was employed by Northland foods in Owen, retiring from Kerry Ingredients in 1999. Mick enjoyed camping (esp. at the family campsite along the Black River and along the Flambeau River) fishing, collecting, and shooting guns with his grandchildren and friends.

Mick is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joan Amacher, Withee as well as his three children, Holly (Arlyn) Thorne, Owen, Dawn (Melvin) Mueller, Owen, and Mark (Kim) Amacher, Glendale, AZ. He was the proud grandpa of Kristopher Reinking, Allen and David Thorne, Jeremy, Katrina, Rachel, Krysara Mueller, Ashley and Logan Amacher; and one great granddaughter, Savannah Thorne.

He is further survived by two brothers, Bruce (Betty) and Dale (Nancy) Amacher; and four sisters, Sherrie (David) Seidel, Starla Amacher, Shelbie (Bob) Tarlowski, Sheila (Dale) Haugle and their families. He will be deeply missed by other close family and friends; especially his beloved dog, Snoopy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Grace Amacher; a brother, Russel Amacher; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Reinking.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2009 from 11:00-2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Withee. A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Tom Myhre will preside. Burial will take place following the service at Riverside Cemetery.

Maurina Schilling Funeral Home, Owen is assisting the family with arrangements.
