Frischmann, Melvin O. “Mel” (January 28, 1924 - February 8, 2009)

Melvin "Mel" O. Frischmann, 85, Town of Little Black, died Sunday, Feb. 8 at Memorial Health Center in Medford, where he had been a patient for the past three weeks.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. Randal Jeppesen officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Medford, with full military honors performed by Medford Area Military Honors Team. Pallbearers will be Michael, Scott, Jeffrey and Travis Frischmann, Jake Fink and Corey Dassow.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, and at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Melvin Frischmann was born January 28, 1924 in the Town of Medford to the late Fred and Magdelena (Hurtienne) Frischmann Sr.

He attended Frey Elementary School and was a graduate of Medford High School. After school he worked for various dairy farmers in the area, then joined the United States Army. He served during World War II, as a telephone line repairman, while stationed in Alaska.

On November 19, 1947 he married Irene M. Haenel, who preceded him in death on January 18, 2007. He worked at Farmer's Union Co-op as a master plumber until 1982 when he owned and operated Frischmann Plumbing until his retirement.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards, especially sheepshead.

Survivors include four sons, James (Sharon), Thomas (special friend Jerri Wojner) and Gary (Esther), all of Medford and Randy of Stetsonville; a brother-in-law, George (special friend Dorothy Anderson) Haenel of Medford; a sister-in-law, Margaret Frischmann of Medford; nine grandchildren, Mike (Carrie) Frischmann of Lancaster, Scott (Sara) Frischmann of Pierre, S.D., Jeff (Mandi) Frischmann of Savage, Minn., Jill Frischmann of Hunterville, N.C., Tammy (Jason) Anderson of Norfolk, Va., Sara (Jake) Fink of Larsen, Chad Frischmann of Eau Claire, Travis (special friend Brenda Flatka) Frischmann of Green Bay and Trisha (Corey) Dassow of Medford; and 15 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Emalee, Logan and Grace Frischmann of Pierre, Ally and Kyle Frischmann of Lancaster, Abbi Frischmann of Savage, Sajid, Madison, Alayna and Kaysa Fink of Larsen, Alexis and Lauryn Anderson of Norfolk, Tristan Frischmann of Green Bay and Ella Dassow of Medford.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Albert, Erwin, Fred, Ewald, Hilbert and Eldor; and a sister, Freda.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in his name to Trinity Lutheran Church, W5334 Dassow Ave., Medford, Wis. 54451.
