Kroeplin, Lorraine A. (Baker) (September 11, 1921 - January 28, 2009)

Lorraine A. Kroeplin, age 87, longtime Gilman area resident, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2009 at Oakbrook Health and Rehab Center in Thorp.

Services were held Sunday, Feb. 1 at Plombon Funeral Chapel in Stanley, with Pastor Grant Brown officiating. Burial was at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Gilman.

Lorraine was born September 11, 1921 in Minnesota, the daughter of the late Lamont and Mathilda (Abel) Baker.

She was united in marriage to William Kroeplin on August 15, 1941 in Mantorville, Minn. They later moved to the Town of Taft where they farmed and raised their 10 children.

Lorraine grew many fruitful gardens with her children. She loved her "babies" which were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anytime she could be around them, she would hold them lovingly in her lap. Lorraine also had her "kitty's" around her.

She is survived by six sons, Luverne (Betty) and Delano (Karen) Kroeplin, both of Stanley, Robert Kroeplin of Boyd, Mark (Donna) Kroeplin and Randy Kroeplin, both of Gilman and Jason (Sheri) Kroeplin of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Leona Turner of Stanley; 33 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2003; a son, Marty Kroeplin; two daughters, Joyce in infancy and Violet McCartney; a grandchild, Jamie Joy Turner; a brother, Chester Baker; two sisters, Claudia Pepin and Beatrice Fate; a son-in-law, Jerry Turner; and two daughters-in-law, JoAnn Kroeplin and Joann Bergman.
