Turba, Katharine Emily (Robinson) (October 30, 1913 - January 19, 2009)

Katharine "Robbie" Emily Turba, 95, Rib Lake, died Monday, Jan. 19 at Golden LivingCenter in Rib Lake.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, with Father Otto Bucher officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Pallbearers will be Jeff and Gerald Schreiner, Dick Gordon, John Roiger, Larry Turba and Doug Reavis.

Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

The former Katharine Robinson was born October 30, 1913 in Williamsport, Penn., to the late Charles Elden and Laura (Keibler) Robinson.

She attended grade school, high school and Lycoming College, all in Pennsylvania. She enlisted in the United States Air Force during World War II and served in Florida and Chanute Air Field in Chicago, Ill.

On October 20, 1945 in Chicago, she married Ray Turba, who preceded her in death in 2004.

They lived in Chicago until 1950 when they moved to Rib Lake. She was employed with Fish Furniture in Chicago, at Bud's IGA in Rib Lake for eight years and later for Dr. Hesse for 30 years as a receptionist.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and past member of Little Bohemia Thursday evening Ladies Bowling League and Saturday evening couples league. She enjoyed reading and bowling.

Survivors include three children, Laura (Gerald) Thums, Dorothy (Larry) Ulczycki and Charles, all of Rib Lake; a sister-in-law, Alice Robinson of Connecticut; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Sam; a sister, Jane (John) Kennedy; and two grandsons, Frank Ulczycki and Christopher Turba.
