Enstrom, Mary Jo (5 Jan. 1935 - 6 Jan. 2009)

Mary Jo Weekley Enstrom (born Jan. 5, 1935; died Jan. 6, 2009) was the first woman to graduate from the University of Georgia with a degree in concert piano. At college, she served as president of the Lambda Sigma chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi, treasurer of Sigma Alpha Iota honorary music fraternity, and vice president of the University Chorus.

Mary Jo met Robert Enstrom in 1958, while he was stationed at Duvall County Naval Base, serving his country as a hurricane hunter. Mary Jo gave up her beloved Jacksonville, Fla., to move with Bob to his hometown of Chicago.

Mary Jo and Bob worked together in business all of their married life, settling in Medford to run Enstrom Distributing in 1975 and adding the Marshfield branch in 1994. Mary Jo and Bob never spent a day apart until his death in 2004. She has rejoined him now forever. She touched the lives of everyone she met.

Along with her husband, Bob, Mary Jo also was preceded in death by her brother Charles A. Weekley, her mother Edna Weekley, and her father Charles A. Weekley. She is survived by her daughters Susan Enstrom, Kathryn Forrest (Lee Taylor); two beautiful granddaughters, Miranda and Lauren; two nephews, Charles A. Weekley (Nancy) and Robert Weekley (Sharon); grandnieces and grandnephews Robert, Wendy, Ash and Abigail. On Bob's side of the family, she is survived by sister-in-law Helen Enstrom and Helen's children Mark (Shira and daughter Tahlia Rose), Karen (Andrew and sons Eric and Nils) and Jon (Brandi and children Shawn, Breanna, and Connery).

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Rembs Funeral Home, 300 South Oak Ave., Marshfield. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at Perkinstown Community Church, W11104 County Highway M, Perkinstown, the church to which Mary Jo and Bob belonged. Pastor Peter Ruggles will officiate. Ruggles is pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshfield, which Mary Jo attended with many friends. A lunch will follow the burial, at Phil and Eleanor's, Highway 13, Medford.
