Dassow, Victor Herbert (October 23, 1920 - January 16, 2001)

Medford native Victor Herbert Dassow, 80, Greensboro, NC, died Tuesday, January 16 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, January 18 at First Lutheran Chuch in Greensboro.

Victor Dassow was born October 23, 1920 at the Town of Medford to the late John and Anna (Rehbein) Dassow. He attended Medford High School and Taylor County Normal School. He was also a graduate of King College in Bristol, Tenn.

His marriage to Helen Brooks, who survives, took place on September 20, 1947.

He served in the US Air Force during WW2.

After leaving active duty, he served in the Air Force Reserves and retired at the rank of Major.

He later owned New Home Building Supply Co. in Greensboro.

In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Duane (Madeleine), Greensboro; one daughter, Linda Dassow, Greensboro; one sister Lorraine Schulte, Abbotsford; and three grandchildren.
