Hebda, Dorothy Elizabeth (Everett) (June 27, 1918 - August 18, 2011)

Dorothy Elizabeth Hebda, 93, Rib Lake, died on Thursday, Aug. 18 at Golden LivingCenter in Rib Lake.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake, with Father Otto Bucher and Deacon Mark Priniski officiating. Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Pallbearers were Ryan Gibbons, Nick Hebda, Chris Hebda, Jason Hebda, Joel Hebda, Gabe Lind, Jon Hebda, Trevor Lind, Brad Ewoldt and Kyle Ewoldt.


Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.


The former Dorothy Everett was born on June 27, 1918 in Chicago, Ill., to the late Arthur and Florence (McCann) Everett.

She attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Grade School and was a 1937 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School. She was employed as a bookkeeper for 10 years in the Chicago area and for the United States Navy as a civilian during World War II, and vacationed at Camp Carter in Rib Lake.


On September 27, 1947 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rib Lake, she married Stanley J. Hebda Sr., who preceded her in death on September 14, 1972. They owned and operated a dairy farm in Rib Lake for over 20 years. In 1969 she started working for the Rib Lake Nursing Home and was a nurse's aid for three years then was a bookkeeper there until retiring in 1996.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, past member of Christian Mothers, and a nursing home volunteer. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, ice cream sandwiches, the Green Bay Packers, word puzzles, playing Uno, praying for family and others, writing letters, and making sure she never forgot a birthday or anniversary.


Survivors include eight children, Joseph, Stanley (Judi), Richard (Mary), Jean (Daniel) Lind and Mary (Randy) Ewoldt, all of Rib Lake, Theresa (Bob) Gibbons of Medford, James (Dawn) Hebda of Dorchester, and Edward (Sally) of Stevens Point; a brother-in-law, Edward Hebda of Hemet, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas on January 29, 2010; and a brother, Richard (Dorothy) Everett.
