Mancl, Leonard Frank (30 Apr. 1922 - 31 July 2006)

Leonard Frank Mancl, 84, Phillips, died in the Wausau Hospital in Wausau on Mon., July 31, 2006. He was born on April 30, 1922 in Miladore, Wis., the son of Anton and Eva Mancl. He served his country in the United States Army in the European Theater of Action during W.W. II. He was married to Anne Gago in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Phillips on July 3, 1948. He was employed by the Joseph Schlitz Brewery in Milwaukee until the time of his retirement in 1980. He was a member of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church of Phillips, and of the Brewery Workers Union Local Number 9 of Milwaukee. In his free time he loved music; he was a trumpet player and played in a band as a young man. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Anne; four children, Christine (Ron) Kendziera, Phillips, Gary, of Harshaw, David (Michelle), of Franklin, and Mary (Perry) Leinon, of Phillips; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Weber, Marshfield, and Emma Kasberger, Marshfield.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Larry; by eight brothers: Ben, Albert, Martin, Sylvester, Louie, Tony, and two infant brothers; and four sisters: Clara Linzmeier, Mary Werwinski, Agnes Konkol, and Ludmilla Derfus. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thur., Aug. 3, at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Phillips with Father Otto Bucher celebrating the Funeral Mass. Military Honors will be conducted by the Frank and Michael Baran VFW Post No. 5778 and the Lane Kreiling American Legion Post No. 122.

Interment will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Phillips. Friends may call at the church on Thur. from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.

The Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
