Carnahan, William Lyle (11 May 1921 - 27 Nov. 2000)

 

WASHINGTON, Utah - William "Bill" Lyle Carnahan, 79, died Mon., November 27, 2000, in Washington, Utah. He was born May 11, 1921, in Marshfield, the son of Adam A. and Louise Heidtke Carnahan.

Bill grew up in Marshfield and Stevens Point where he attended school. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point. He received his masters degree in education from the University of Wisconsin. Bill proudly served his country during World War II. He spent most of his life as a teacher and coach. He taught and coached for many years at New Holstein High, Ashland High and Northland College. Bill coached many different sports and initiated wrestling programs in New Holstein and Ashland High schools. During his career at Northland College, he was the coach of a NAIA national champion team. While he was in Ashland he was a strong supporter of the Ashland Little League serving as president for a number of years. After his retirement from teaching, he moved to Utah and sold real estate part-time.

Bill is survived by his children: Deborah (Jon) Hancock of West Valley City, Utah, Bruce (Becki) Carnahan of Iron River; Gary (Karen) Carnahan of Mancos, Colo., James (Marie) Carnahan of Ashland, Dana (Jon Streich) Carnahan, Wausau, Karyn (Mike) Lazorik, Washburn, and Lori (David) Rademacher, Ashland; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Bernice.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Sat. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Ashland.

Cremation took place on Wed. in Utah.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to set up a memorial fund in his name.
