FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Matonich and Rollins Clans Family Reunion

MARSHFIELD, WI - August 18, 2019 - Descendants from the late Joseph and Catherine (Paun) Matonich families gathered for their annual reunion on August 4, 2019. Family members from several Wisconsin cities and Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Texas traveled to Wildwood Park and Zoo in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Patriarch’s Joseph and Catherine had nine children whom after marriage would have the last names Arnold, Enfield, Linzmeier, Matonich, Rollins, and Shimkus.

The reunion started as a picnic to celebrate the birthday of one of the nine, Ann (Matonich) Rollins. Ann and her late husband Robert Rollins had the largest clan with 10 children. After her passing in 2007 the family continued the celebration.

Activities included group and individual family photos, displays of several family heirlooms from the early 1900’s, a bounce-house for the kids, and a potluck meal.

A brief Celebration of Life and Family presentation was made by Kevin Ress, great-grandson of Joseph and Catherine. Ress explains “so much happens during the course of a year, it is thoughtful to recognize those that have passed, celebrate marriages, milestone birthdays, and new births. Time goes by quickly, our family has a lot to celebrate over the course of a year.”

Next year’s reunion is set for August 2, 2020; the 107th birthday of the late Ann (Matonich) Rollins. It will be held in Marshfield, Wisconsin at Wildwood Park and Zoo.
