Olson, Dr. John P.

GREENWOOD- Dr. John P. Olson, Rochester, New York, received the Outstanding Alumni Award at the 1983 Greenwood High School Alumni Banquet Saturday.

Olson, valedictorian of the Class of 1948, was introduced by one of his classmates, Dale Jolivette, Greenwood. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. William Olson, Greenwood.

A Phi Betta Kappa graduate of Carlton College, Olson attended the University of Rochester Medical School and was a resident at Galveston General Hospital in Texas. He currently is a professor at the University of Rochester Medical School and Chief of oncology and hematology at Rochester General Hospital. He is the Author of a book section on specific blood diseases. He and his wife have four children.

Also honored were members of the Class of 1933, who celebrated their 50th reunion. Class members at the banquet were Herman Beyer, Eva Kalkofen Christie, Lois Merkel Hare, Walter Hohl, Clarence Liebzeit, Albert Neuenfeldt, Lucille Schwarze Rhode, Martin Scherr, Donald Speich and Donald Syth.

During the business meeting, it was decided to begin an annual scholarship in 1984 for graduating seniors. The Braun 4-H Club music group entertained.
