Nadolny, Elizabeth “Betty” F. (Steinwand) (1920? - 5 SEP 2019)

Elizabeth “Betty” F. Nadolny, a longtime resident of Waukesha, died peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, at the age of 99.

She was born in Colby, the daughter of Francis and Verena (Weix) Steinwand. She was a graduate of the St. Joseph Hospital of Nursing in Marshfield, and proudly served in the United States Naval Medical Corp during World War II and the Korean Conflict. On Sept. 15, 1951, she married John “Jack” Nadolny at St. Mary Catholic Church in Colby. He preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 2017.

Betty was a devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 1954 where she served as the president of the Waukesha Catholic Study Club and was a member of the Christian Women and Waukesha Homemakers Club. She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, and had a love for Colby Cheese, invented by her grandfather. Betty devoted her life to raising her family and provided a loving home with a lifetime of memories. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and as a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

She will be deeply missed and be forever in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jim (Bev) Nadolny and their children, Rachel (Lee) DeWitt and Jonathan; Fr. Paul Nadolny S.V.D.; Ann (John) Luckey and their children, Jennifer, John and Michael; Joe (Nancy) Nadolny and their children, Kim (Chris) Sloan and daughter Brielle, and Nicole (Adam) Matuka and daughter, Teigan and expected baby girl; Mary Garrity and her children, TJ and Matt; Dave (Mary) Nadolny; and Steve (Tami) Nadolny. She will also be missed by her sisters, Suzanne Leyba and Kay Hellmann; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Jack, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Virginia Bonar and Rosemary Kademan; and her brother, Peter Steinwand.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Avalon Square for their tender and loving care. Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, from 4 p.m. until the 6 p.m. funeral Mass, all to be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Mass and burial with full military honors will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Avalon Square, 222 Park Place, Waukesha, WI 53186 or to Divine Word Missionaries, P.O. Box 6099, Techny, IL 60082 are appreciated.
